On 18 September 2026, the Flemish Government approved the start note for the preparation of the Regional Spatial Implementation Plan (GRUP) for the Opwijk-Lievegem pipeline corridor. The project area extends across the municipalities and cities of Aalst, Berlare, Dendermonde, Evergem, Ghent, Lebbeke, Lievegem, Lochristi, Lokeren, Opwijk and Zele.
