Fluxys Belgium, Pipelink, Socofe and SFPIM join forces in “Fluxys c-grid” to create a CO₂ network operator. This newly created organisation underlines our common ambition to support industries in their transition efforts to a low carbon future. At the same time, it shows our readiness for both the upcoming legal and regulatory frameworks for CO₂ transport activities. Fluxys c-grid ensures a long-term approach combining a regional focus with a broad internationally interconnected network.
A powerful consortium of four Belgian industrial players – Prefer, Fluxys Belgium, Lhoist and Orbix – have joined forces to help decarbonise Belgian industry and provide a sustainable solution for the construction sector. They have now been selected by an European innovation fund (Innovation Fund Small Scale) and will receive a €4.5 million grant. Although there is still another administrative step to complete by March 2023, this announcement is wonderful news for the project, as it crystallises the work of the consortium and gives it the boost it needs to successfully carry out the project.
The question of which price index to choose for a natural gas contract is set to get simpler. From 1 October 2023, a single index, ZTP, will be used for the Belgian reference price. The ZTP index was on average 14% lower than the Dutch TTF index in 2022 thanks to the Belgian grid's good connections to all sources for the Northwest European market.
Within the spirit of partnerships and cross-border cooperation for CO₂ transport, Fluxys Belgium and Wintershall Dea signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement is one of the many steps to accelerate the green transition and to contribute towards a sustainable low carbon industry.
In June 2022, French and Belgian energy infrastructure operators GRTgaz and Fluxys Belgium launched a market call for developing the first open-access, cross-border hydrogen transmission network between France and Belgium, in the Hainaut region. 17 companies expressed an interest in connecting their production or consumption site to the proposed transmission network, for production capacity ranging from 300 to 600 MW and an associated hydrogen consumption of between 1.5 and 3 TWh/year, depending on the options considered. A feasibility study will now be launched.
In the presence of her Royal Highness Princess Astrid, a joint declaration on low-carbon value chains (“the Oslo Declaration”) undersigned by Fluxys and 13 major industrial groups, North Sea Port and Port of Antwerp-Bruges, was handed over to Belgian policy makers. The signatories stress the importance of Carbon Capture, transport, Usage and Storage (“CCUS”) in meeting the decarbonisation challenges and urge the policymakers to install the necessary policy instruments.
Infrastructure group Fluxys and its subsidiary Fluxys LNG are gauging the market's interest in importing low-carbon molecules from the terminal at Zeebrugge. With this market initiative, Fluxys is anticipating the need for large-scale decarbonisation.
29/03/2023 - Annual results Fluxys Belgium financial year 2022
Fluxys Belgium, Fluxys LNG (hereinafter "Fluxys Belgium") and the CREG have agreed to propose to the market some adjustments to the tariff methodology. In an environment characterised by high inflation and volatile and rising interest rates, these adjustments will allow Fluxys Belgium's margin to reach a fair level for the period 2024-2027.
Fluxys, Advario Stolthaven Antwerp and Advario Gas Terminal have joined forces to study the feasibility of building an open-access green ammonia import terminal at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The plan is to offer the market a robust solution to its growing demands for importing and storing green energy and raw materials against a backdrop of ongoing decarbonisation.
On the eve of the historic North Sea Summit in Ostend, Belgium, infrastructure operator Fluxys Belgium has conveyed to Belgian Prime Minister De Croo and Ministers for Energy and North Sea, Tinne Van der Straeten and Vincent Van Quickenborne a joint declaration by Fluxys and the other major gas transmission operators (TSOs) around the North Sea. In this declaration, the TSOs commit to a harmonious development of all the energy resources the North Sea has to offer. The undersigning TSOs urge all stakeholders to cooperate so that no opportunity will be missed.
A change is taking place in Fluxys' management team in Germany. By cordial mutual agreement, Dr Peter Drasdo will be leaving the company on 1 July 2017 to take on new challenges outside the Fluxys Group.
The transmission system operators GASCADE Gastransport GmbH, Fluxys Deutschland GmbH, Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH and ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH have signed a fractional ownership agreement for the pipeline project European Gas Pipeline Link (EUGAL).
The joint, nationwide market area to be established in Germany will presumably start operations on 1 October 2021. This is the date the German gas transmission system operators (TSOs) have agreed with the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), the national regulatory authority. The TSOs believe that the planned timing, which coincides with the start of the gas year, is the most convenient solution for market participants from an operational perspective.
Natural gas transmission tariffs are set to drop for the third time in five years on 1 January 2018, which will have a positive impact on gas bills for individuals, SMEs as well as large companies. This decrease is triggered by the interim tariff revision mechanism provided for in CREG’s tariff decision.

Pascal De Buck, CEO of Fluxys Belgium, and Thierry Trouvé, CEO of GRTgaz, inaugurated in Pitgam (Nord) the new gas transmission pipeline connecting France and Belgium. Initiated in 2010, this new link between the two countries is another step towards creating a more integrated gas market in Northwest Europe.
The Green Gas Initiative (GGI) members saw 11 TWh of biomethane injected in gas networks of their home countries in 2016, a 50% increase over the past three years. This promising result is one of the outcomes detailed in GGI’s recent first report on the development of biomethane.
