Hydrogen pipeline Berneau-Eynatten

Why is this infrastructure needed?

Many industrial companies in the region of Liège plan to use hydrogen as fuel or raw material in order to reduce their CO2 emissions. Accordingly, Fluxys Belgium is preparing to lay a new underground hydrogen pipeline of about 30 kilometers. This project is part of Fluxys' overall approach to help build the hydrogen and CO2 infrastructure Belgium needs.

The hydrogen pipeline is a key step in the implementation of the federal hydrogen strategy. Our aim is to develop the infrastructure in line with the market needs from industrial clusters and establish connections between them and neighbouring countries. In other words, we are laying the groundwork to ensure that Belgium's role as an energy hub in northwest Europe can continue long into the future by transporting the molecules of the future.

The pipeline will only be laid once all relevant permits have been obtained.
