Connect local producers of Non-Compatible gas to the Belgian grid
Play an important role in Belgium's energy mix. Get your Non-Compatible gas into our grid and supply households and businesses with a carbon-neutral energy source. Get connected to our grid and we will guide you through the process from requesting a gas connection to your day-to-day operations.
1) Request or adapt a gas connection
In order to launch an orientation study, we require information about:
- The requested or adapted gas connection: Application Form.
- Your company: Know Your Customer Form
Send both forms and supporting documents to info.transport@fluxys.com.
We will then get in touch with you to schedule an appointment to run through the full connection process in detail and the results of our orientation study based on your Application Form.
2) Launch of feasibility Study
Based on our meeting we will launch a detailed feasibility study.
This feasibility study will indicate the most advantageous connection options for your site. The feasibility study, which take at least 8 weeks to complete, look into:
- The best technical route for your connection,
- The capacity of Fluxys Belgium' Connection and Blending Station station and its required functionalities,
- The permits that will be required to build the Connection and Blending Station,
- How much time obtaining all those permits will take,
- Whether the blending the Non-Compatible Gas is possible at the producer’s location, this depends on the composition of the Non-Compatible Gas.
3) Acceptance of offer to get connected or for adaption
Once the feasibility study has been concluded, you will receive from us a customised offer setting out:
- A schedule for the realisation of your connection,
- All the relevant technical data concerning your connection and the construction of Fluxys Belgium’ Connection and Blending Station,
- The annual capacity which we expect you or your supplier to subscribe for the number of years set out in the offer,
- The investment cost for the realisation of your connection,
- The amount of financial guarantee to provide for the realisation of this connection, and
- The to be signed Standard Connection Agreement – Local Producer Non-Compatible Gas – this is a regulated document which formalises the contractual relationship between your company and Fluxys Belgium, it sets out both parties rights and obligations with regard to the natural gas connection and how to operate and use such connection on a day-to-day basis.
4) Commissioning of the works
The realisation of your project will be scheduled together with you taking into account:
- Your desired realisation date,
- The duration of the permit procedures,
- The length of the pipeline to be installed,
- The construction and commissioning of the Connection and Blending Station, and
- The degree of technical difficulty involved.
Especially due to the time required to obtain permits, you should anticipate a waiting time of between 24 and 46 months.
5) Choose a shipper offtaking your produced gas
Get in contact with one of the more than 50 shippers in Belgium who can offtake the molecules of your production. Check the website of our Regulator CREG (NL, FR) and the local Regulators Vlaamse Nutsregulator, CWAPE, and Brugel to find an overview of the shippers who have a licence to supply natural gas to industrial sites in Belgium.
Your shipper has to book capacity for a certain period it would like to offtake from your industry, this is done via the PRISMA platform on a First-Committed-First-Served basis (FCFS). If no capacity is booked for the next calendar year before 30 November, we must draw up a registered letter and start the administrative proceedings.
For the subscription of capacity for your industry, your shipper will require your “unique identifier” also known as the EIC-code to be sure it subscribes capacity for your industry and not for your neighbour. Please find here more info on these EIC-codes that your shipper requires for its booking.
An Allocation Agreement needs to be (electronically) approved by you and your shipper(s) to agree on the repartition key of the measured quantities over the appointed shipper(s). Such approval will be done via our Client Portal “MyFluxys”.
6) Day-to-day operations
Via our Client Portal “MyFluxys” you can find exclusive insights and operational data tailored just for you. Our platform offers a seamless blend of public accessible information and exclusive private information after you are logged in. Via MyFluxys you can monitor your gas consumption and whether they comply with the Natural Gas Specifications, approve your Allocation Agreement, consult maintenance periods and download other useful information,…
As part of the onboarding with Fluxys Belgium, your organization established a set of contract-related contacts, including one or more “Administrator(s)”. The persons identified as an Administrator can grant, modify, and stop users’ access to MyFluxys and also manage their contact information via the Fluxys Group User Management Module. These persons will be able to identify who should be assigned amongst others the roles of Commercial, Finance, Operational, IT, Emergency Plan, and/or Extranet-Reader/Manager.
Fluxys Group User Management Module
Should you later need to request a change in Administrator(s) or would like to indicate additional Administrator(s) for your organization, please fill out, sign and submit this signed form to info.transport@fluxys.com.
MyFluxys is equipped with single sign-on functionality, meaning you establish a single set of credentials (email and password) that you then use to access the Client Portal. When you are granted access (either by your Administrator or by a representative of Fluxys Belgium), you will receive an automated email informing you of this access provision with instructions on how to set up your single sign-on credentials.
Fluxys Belgium regularly organises End users’ days for companies that are connected directly to its grid. Consult below the presentations from the previous years.
