Lowering wobbe index through ballasting
Most of the LNG produced worldwide has a wobbe index higher than the maximum allowed values for natural gas in the UK. The ballasting installation at the terminal is used to inject liquid nitrogen in the LNG flow in order to lower the wobbe index and gross heating value of natural gas after regasification. This enables shippers to send-out natural gas from the terminal to the UK or the Zeebrugge hub.

Downstream swaps
Another solution to meet downstream quality specifications is offered through swapping or mixing gas flows, e.g. mixing or swapping the gas flows coming from the Zeepipe Terminal (ZPT) with gas flows coming from the LNG terminal.
Mixed send-out
Quality adjustment is also possible by combining one quality of LNG with another quality of LNG at send-out. Different qualities of LNG are stored in different storage tanks and can be regasified together in certain ratios to meet specific requirements.
