Entire package of short term storage capacity successfully auctioned

2012-01-26

On 25 January Fluxys successfully auctioned all its short term storage capacity on offer. A total of 280 million cubic metres of storage capacity was available for yearly contracts covering storage year 2012-2013.

Fluxys registered 11 customers as bidder for the auction. The opening bids at 10:00 CET showed an overall demand of 330 million cubic metres of storage capacity. The auction closed at 13:00 CET with the available 280 million cubic metres of storage capacity entirely sold.

This auctioning of capacity was a first for Fluxys. The technical process went flawless and a helpdesk was provided for to assist the bidders. The auctioning mechanism and overall approach was developed in close consultation with the community of system users and Belgian federal energy regulator CREG.

The auction’s success confirms the interest the market has shown for Fluxys storage in November-December 2011 during the subscription window for 400 million cubic metres of long-term storage capacity. With overall demand for long-term storage totalling 600 million cubic metres, the entire capacity on offer sold for the maximum period of 10 years as of storage year 2012-2013.

Upon closing of yesterday’s auction, all available storage capacity on the primary market for storage year 2012-2013 has been sold. Any capacity available on the secondary market is posted on the secondary market bulletin board in the storage section of the Fluxys website: www.fluxys.com.

Tips for using search operators

Use "quotation marks" to search for a series of words or a phrase in a specific order.

Boolean operators

You can find a group of words or a phrase by using the link words AND, OR and NOT:
known as Boolean operators, these words are used to combine terms in the search field.

  • AND: All the search terms must be included in the publication. Typing in Apple AND Pear will return publications containing both the word Apple and the word Pear.

  • OR :  At least one of the search terms must be included in the publication. Typing in Apple OR Pear will return publications containing either the word Apple or the word Pear or both.

  • NOT: The term preceded by NOT must not be included in the publication. Typing in Apple NOT Pear will return publications containing the word Apple but not the word Pear.
