Zeebrugge LNG terminal achieves a first in Europe by loading a small LNG ship

Yesterday, a small LNG ship was loaded at the Fluxys LNG terminal in Zeebrugge, a first in Europe. In future, Fluxys considers to accommodate such vessels more frequently at the second jetty currently being studied.

 

Test operation

The LNG ship loaded yesterday at the LNG terminal in Zeebrugge is the Coral Methane, a vessel with a capacity of 7,500 m³. By comparison, a standard LNG ship can carry around 20 times this volume. The loading was a test operation for Fluxys, which sees the development of this business as a new opportunity to expand its current service offering at the LNG terminal and to enhance the utilization flexibility of the facility.

Prospect of accommodating more small LNG carriers

Fluxys considers to load more small LNG carriers in future. The ongoing market consultation regarding a new capacity expansion at the LNG terminal has highlighted market interest in services requiring the construction of a second jetty. If built, this jetty would among other things enable the mooring of regasification vessels and the loading of small LNG ships.

Use "quotation marks" to search for a series of words or a phrase in a specific order.

Boolean operators

You can find a group of words or a phrase by using the link words AND, OR and NOT:
known as Boolean operators, these words are used to combine terms in the search field.

  • AND: All the search terms must be included in the publication. Typing in Apple AND Pear will return publications containing both the word Apple and the word Pear.

     

  • OR :  At least one of the search terms must be included in the publication. Typing in Apple OR Pear will return publications containing either the word Apple or the word Pear or both.

     

  • NOT: The term preceded by NOT must not be included in the publication. Typing in Apple NOT Pear will return publications containing the word Apple but not the word Pear.
