Exact location and depth of the pipeline
The markers or markings placed by the patrol officer only show the approximate location of the pipeline. The exact location and depth of the pipeline should therefore always be confirmed by digging an appropriate number of trial trenches under the supervision of our patrol officer.
- If the pipe runs in a straight line, trial trenches should be dug at least every 50 metres.
- If the pipeline curves, you should dig as many trial trenches as necessary to confirm the exact location of the pipeline.

Only with a spade and shovel
You may only carry out the trial trenches with a spade and shovel. Under exceptional circumstances, a hard upper layer (such as road surfacing, for example) may be removed using a machine, provided:
- A Fluxys patrol officer is present when you remove this surface layer;
- An earthwork contractor is at the machine to guide it;
- Everything under the surface layer is cleared using a spade and shovel.
