Requirement to provide notification of worksMost gas transmission pipeline incidents are the result of damage to the pipes during work in the area. Therefore anyone wishing to carry out work close to Fluxys pipelines has a legal obligation to inform us of this in advance. Since 2006, notifying works has been quick and simple thanks to the Federal Cable and Pipeline Information Database (CICC/KLIM) website.

Fluxys handles 60,000 work notifications each yearFluxys replies to all work notifications. A dedicated team using an efficient document management system handles about 60,000 notifications each year, informing the party submitting the notification whether or not there is a pipeline in the vicinity of the work. If there is, we also provide them with indicative location maps of Fluxys’ pipelines along with safety instructions. Detailed inspectionsMore than 60 Fluxys patrol officers, based in eight regional operating sectors, inspect the pipeline system every day. There are three ways in which they do their rounds: - Car patrols to take measurements, find work that has not been announced and support contractors carrying out work in the vicinity of pipelines.
- Once a year the whole pipeline system is checked on foot.
- Helicopter patrols to find work that has not been announced. These helicopter patrols have been stepped up since 2006.
