Permission procedures based on best course
Fluxys first maps out different possible routes of the pipeline. In dialogue with the authorities and utilities concerned, a preferential route is chosen. Once the best route has been identified, several planning permission procedures must be completed for a pipeline:
- Declaration of Public Utility (DUP);
- any process relating to the environmental impact assessment (EIA);
- revision of the sector plan;
- transport licence;
- planning permit;
- environmental permit, if needed.

Wide consultation
The local authorities and the owners and operators of the plots of land affected are consulted several times during the planning permission procedure. Fluxys only begins laying pipelines once all these procedures have been completed positively.
