South-north capacity development: market process to restart upon resolving uncertainties

Shippers have shown significant interest in south-north capacity from Italy to Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. They are however at this stage uncomfortable with making binding commitments because it is not clear when a number of issues will be resolved that are not in direct control of Fluxys TENP, FluxSwiss and Fluxys Belgium. The latter therefore discontinue their market process and will restart it as soon as the uncertainties are clarified.

European cooperation on Power-to-Gas for future energy system

Eleven leading companies in Europe have joined forces in the newly established North Sea Power to Gas Platform to further develop the concept of Power-to-Gas (P2G): the conversion of renewable power into gas. P2G will play an increasingly important role in our future energy system, as it reduces temporal surpluses of renewable power by converting these surpluses into gases. As these gases can be used for different purposes such as transportation, domestic heating, as feedstock for the chemical industry, and power generation, the potential value of P2G is considerable.

Successful launch of bundled capacity auctioning through Prisma platform

Since 17 April Fluxys Belgium offers on the European capacity platform Prisma firm bundled day-ahead capacity on 5 interconnection points with neighbouring transmission system operators. Until now an overall 24 GWh/h of bundled capacity from and to the ZTP was offered during the auctions.

Market participants can choose between fast or basic storage service packages depending on the utilization profile they are looking for. They can choose to book unbundled storage services as well. Market participants can book the new products during a subscription window from 27 March until 8 April.

Fluxys Belgium launches market consultation on storage services

Today Fluxys Belgium launches a market consultation on the contractual and regulatory documents for storage services in the natural gas storage facility in Loenhout. The proposed changes to the current documents on the subscription of primary capacity make it easier for Fluxys Belgium to meet market demand and and include a higher flexibility in the use of the storage facility. Market players are invited to send their remarks and comments with regard to this market consultation until 18 January 2013 (included). A feedback session is also organized on 9 January 2013.
