Legal obligation to notify Fluxys of your works at the planning stage

Anyone wishing to carry out works in the immediate vicinity of natural gas transmission infrastructure is legally bound to inform Fluxys of their intentions at the planning stage.

It is important to take our natural gas transmission facilities into account when drawing up the site’s health and safety plan. (cf. legislation on mobile or temporary work sites).

Tell us about your works at least 15 working days before they are due to start

Once you have done this, Fluxys will provide safety instructions and indicative plans showing the layout of its infrastructure.

As a contractor, you should contact the Fluxys’ regional operating sector at least 48 hours before the works begin.

Activities that must not be performed near gas transmission facilities

The Royal Decree of 24 January 1991 sets out the minimum width of the reserved area on either side of a Fluxys pipeline, as well as the activities that must not be performed in that area.

If you need to carry out works within 5 metres of a pipeline, you must inform Fluxys’ regional operating sector 48 hours before beginning, even if you have already notified Fluxys of your works and a patroller has already visited your site.
